In the “old days”, Loretta Can’t-fuh-getta (as she was known in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn), began her theatrical career in the transformative role of the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz. Lori performed on the lower east side at the Prometheus Theatre in original musical comedies such as Applesauce, Cocktails with Scarlett O’Hara and Honeymoon in Hades. Her directing experience includes The Butler Did It, On Golden Pond, and most recently, Birth.
For over 20 years, Lori has taught Children’s Creative Drama, Teen Acting classes, and directed various Children’s Theatre productions. With funding from United Way, she coordinated and directed a Teen Theatre Troupe which, through improvisation, developed and performed original scripts highlighting social conflicts and issues affecting youth. Her most memorable and fulfilling children’s theatre project, was producing and directing the show, “Our Kids on Broadway”, a musical starring children ages 3 to 16 with special needs.
Loretta is most well known for her popular comedic YouTube video, Brooklynese as a Second Language, which she performed live at the Thayer Hotel at West Point.
Currently, Loretta is focusing on her own need for creative self-expression – through writing. “Tacking” is one of the many stories on her journey, to be found in her upcoming book project, Woodchips and Bullets.
