Debra Castellano

Debra Castellano's pictureDebra Castellano has worked as a TV comedy writer in Los Angeles, and wrote and directed for the theatrical sketch comedy troupe “Off-Off-Fairfax.” After moving to New York, Deb added playwright to her list of credits, writing one-acts for “The A Train Plays” and “The 24 Hour Plays.” Her A Train Play, The Rehearsal, was published in 2009 by Playscripts, Inc. In 2011, she debuted a solo show entitled Swamp Girl (Who Needs a Therapist When You Have Knee Pads?), which she has performed in the Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York City. She followed it up with The Further Adventures of Swamp Girl (in which she tries to find someone besides herself to marry), featured in the Midtown Festival in 2012, and the LA Women’s Theatre Festival in 2013. She is currently developing Waste Management: The Show as an ode to one of her true loves: recycling. Deb’s stories have been featured at The Moth, on the literary website Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood, and in the humor magazine Jest. When not writing, she is acting on the radio, singing in the monthly gathering “The Secret City,” and teaching herself the ukulele. She also throws one heck of a party.
