BD GothamBarry Dougherty is the editor of the Friars magazine, “The Epistle,” and author of several books including “How To Do It Standing Up” on stand-up comedy, “A Hundred Years, A Million Laughs” a centennial celebration of the Friars Club, “Friars Club Book of Roasts” and “Friars Club Encyclopedia of Jokes.” He appeared as the client/host on Ghost Hunters (Syfy Channel) in his capacity as Historian of the Friars Club. He appears on the “Dean Martin Roasts” Companion DVD and was a consultant on the PBS documentaries “Make Em’ Laugh” and “Women in Comedy.” He was a panelist and judge at the NY and NJ Comedy Festivals. Dougherty is the head writer for Friars events such as the Roasts of Betty White, Quentin Tarantino and Jack Black and Testimonial Dinners honoring Tom Cruise, Larry King and Don Rickles. He was host for the inaugural Long Island LitFest and is currently touring with “Living Out Loud, Writers Riff on Love, Sweat & Fears” joining a group of professional writers reading their personal essays.
